Sadly, I got used to that in high school and was able to sleep through it. It also didn't hurt that I can't hear many high frequencies (I have moderate bilateral degenerative hearing loss). Both good and bad qualities to that one...
Nowadays, I miss that ability to sleep so much. I'm so sleep deprived that if I get five hours a night I'm extremely fortunate. It's been going on for years. Slowly but surely the fact that I stay up late and have an early class has also been a key factor in my sleep problems.
Just last night I feel asleep at 1:30am (I was finishing up some work), and then I work up at 5:00am and couldn't go back to sleep. This has happened more and more frequently over the past few months... It is nice that I'm not late to any of my classes but none of my classes usually start before 9am. So I'm up for hours in the morning with nothing to do but think "...I could be sleeping right now."
This lack of sleep problem has done one thing for me. I remember my dreams a lot easier now and have them waaaaaaayyy more often.
For example: Last night I had one of my more geeky dreams. Doctor Who related yet not really. They were there yet the main part of the dream was to constantly annoy, frustrate, and bother Paul McGann's Eighth Doctor. Yes. I know. I'm a dork but it was honestly hysterical. The ultimate prank dream... Seriously, sleep aside I wouldn't have missed this dream for anything.
"D'Artagnan!"
Personally, he's a dork for leaving Charlie on that island (one of my audio play character) so to hell with him. Yet, if he hadn't left her, my favorite seriously unstable Colin Baker's Sixth Doctor would never have found her. So there are good and bad sides to him... more bad though.
I think I'm just really surprised to have a dream that I've never had before. I have a lot of childhood recurring dreams. Most of them were pretty creepy too. They make as much sense now as they did then... Oh well.

I'd love to hear about your creepy reoccuring dreams. I imagine they consist of the color pink gobbling you up into a world of cotton candy, princess dresses and fluffy boas.
AHHHHHH! (That's a scream)
